Can anyone knock Robbie Power off his throne in the Gold Cup today? Last year's Gold Cup winning jockey gives us the lowdown on Our Duke and his other rides on Day 4.
Beyond The Law – Albert Barlett Novices’ Hurdle 2.50
“This is his first run since having a wind operation and he ticks a lot of boxes. He loves the ground and whether or not he’s good enough after that remains to be seen but he’s a big price for a horse that will absolutely love the trip and the ground.”
“Another horse I was very impressed with was Henry De Bromhead’s Chris’s Dream. He absolutely bolted up at Clonmel on heavy ground in what was quite a competitive Novice Hurdle so he must have a big chance.”
Our Duke - Gold Cup 3.30
“He’s in fantastic form. He’s travelled over really well which was something we were worried about as he’s never raced outside of Ireland. But he’s been in great form since he arrived, he’s eating and drinking and we couldn’t be happier with him.
He won’t mind the ground and given his form in some very soft conditions it may actually play to his advantage. His form got a good boost when Presenting Percy won and you can read into that what you want, but I’ll take the positives out of it and I’m really looking to it.
I think Might Bite is vulnerable on the ground but the main danger could be last year’s third, Native River. He has been trained with this race in mind all year and I see him as a huge threat. But I think I’m on the right one, I wouldn’t swap him for any other in the race.”
Rock The World - Grand Annual – 5.30
“He’s ran in this race the last two years. He was third in it and then he won it last year and he loves Cheltenham. He is a better horse on better ground and it won’t be ideal today but he is 10 years old now and he might handle it better.”
“North Hill Harvey has a great chance. They sidestepped the Arkle for this race and he has great form around Cheltenham.”
