Atletico Madrid’s behaviour has been slammed by a former Manchester City star after fracas in the tunnel at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Following the second leg of the Champions League quarter final which City progressed 1-0 on aggregate, tensions were already high on the pitch with a number of battles in and out of play on Wednesday night in the Spanish capital.

? Awful behaviour from some Atletico Madrid players tonight. We all saw it, *cough* Savic.

They played well but nah.

Former Republic of Ireland international Richard Dunne has praised his former club for keeping their heads in the closing stages as they held on to set up a semi-final tie with Real Madrid.

“I think Atletico were disgraceful,” Dunne told BoyleSports.

“There was 15 or 20 minutes to go and you were just waiting for it to happen. We've seen it so often with them and Man City did brilliantly to keep their heads and keep calm.

“It’s very easy to react and fall for their game plan. They constantly get away with it. Atletico used to be underdogs, but they've got £100m players in their team, it's such a strange tactic.

"Pulling Jack Grealish's hair was ridiculous. They took an instant dislike to him and obviously he went in to defend his teammates and Stefan Savic completely lost the plot, it was just embarrassing.”

Savic has gone up the tunnel after Jack Grealish.

Hair jealousy, sounds like.

But good luck, Jack ?#UCL #MCFC #ATMMCI pic.twitter.com/NTS6tlOVpY

Dunne also expressed concern over injuries to Kyle Walker and Kevin de Bruyne ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup semi-final clash with title rivals Liverpool.

“I think the injuries do give Liverpool the upper hand," add the former centre-back.

"In terms of the FA Cup this weekend, Liverpool had the chance to rest a few players against Benfica too. Man City without De Bruyne and Walker will certainly give them the upper hand, but both squads are so strong.

“It knocks City's levels down a little bit, but their Champions League win will be a huge asset for them in terms of team building and spirit.”
