We have an Armagh v Kerry prediction for you along with betting tips, and odds for you ahead of this Saturday’s All-Ireland Football semi-final.

Armagh are back in an All-Ireland semi-final for the first time in the Kieran McGeeney era. In both 2022 and 2023, they promised to be a contender in the race for Sam Maguire but were undone at the quarter-final stage on penalties in both games. This 2024 panel was finally able to get over that quarter-final hump and will know that they have a serious chance of landing the ultimate prize if they can overcome Kerry this Saturday.

The Kingdom on the other hand have been no strangers to All-Ireland semi-finals in recent years with this being their 4th consecutive season making an appearance at this stage of the Championship. The last time they were knocked out before the All-Ireland Final came against an Ulster team (Tyrone) and so they will be hoping to avoid a repeat of that result at headquarters on Saturday evening.

Armagh v Kerry Preview

Armagh’s Form

Armagh started their season last year disappointingly coming 7th out of 8 teams in Division 1 with a record of 2 wins, 1 draw and 4 defeats to get relegated to Division 2. In the Ulster Championship, they fared stronger though winning 1-20 to 1-8 against Antrim in the preliminary round, 0-12 to 1-14 against Cavan in the Quarters and 0-12 to 4-10 against Down to make the final where following a 1-15 to 0-18 draw they lost to Derry 3-1 on penalties.

In their All-Ireland Group, they topped it ahead of Galway, Tyrone and Westmeath with 2 wins and 1 loss to qualify for the All-Ireland Quarter-Final. However, it was then they were knocked out by Monaghan following a 0-14 apiece draw 8-9 on penalties.

The step back in quality in 2024 proved welcome and Armagh were repromoted to Division 1 with Donegal with a record of 5 wins and 2 draws in 2nd place. They would lose that final by a point 0-14 to 0-15. In the Ulster Championship, they beat Fermanagh in a 0-9 to 3-11 scoreline and Down 2-06 to 0-13 to reach another final. However, penalties were their undoing again after a 0-20 apiece draw they lost 5-6 to Donegal on penalties.

Armagh went unbeaten in the All-Ireland Group topping it with 2 wins and 1 draw ahead of Galway, Derry and Westmeath. They booked their place in this Semi-Final with a 2-12 to 0-12 win over Roscommon last time out.

Kerry’s Form

Kerry last season initially finished 5th in Division 1 with a record of 3 wins and 4 defeats. That was followed by a Munster Championship victory after easily dispatching Tipperary in the Semi-Final 0-05 to 0-25 and Clare in the final 0-15 to 5-14.

During their All-Ireland Series Group, despite being defeated by Mayo in the opening round 0-17 to 1-19. They defeated Cork and Louth in the next two games to end up topping the group and advance to the Quarter-Final. They would then beat Tyrone 2-18 to 0-12 and Derry 1-17 to 1-15 to reach the All-Ireland Final. However, Dublin proved too good on the day, winning 1-15 to 1-13.

Their 2024 league campaign was stronger than the previous year with a record of 5 wins and 2 losses good enough for a 3rd finish only finishing below Dublin for the final NFL Final spot due to points difference. They ran out winners of the Munster Championship then following a 0-18 to 1-12 win over Cork and a 1-13 to 0-23 final win over Clare.

In their All-Ireland Group, they won 3 from 3 against Louth, Monaghan and Meath to qualify for the All-Ireland Quarter-Final where they ran out 0-15 to 0-10 winners over Derry. The Kingdom are in search of their first All-Ireland win since 2022.

Armagh v Kerry: Prediction & Best Bet

Prediction: Armagh 1-13 Kerry 0-22

Ahead of this huge All-Ireland Semi-Final, Armagh may be big outsiders, but are better tested having come against much stronger opponents than Kerry in their provincial and All-Ireland group games and so could be potentially better prepared for this game.

Kerry following the elimination of Dublin at the hands of Galway are now red-hot favourites to land their first All-Ireland title since the 2022 All-Ireland Football Championship at 5/6 but will need to guard against complacency at the weekend where underperformance could be punished by the Ulstermen.

While Kerry haven’t been tested as much as Armagh, I think that will work in their favour and they should be the fresher of both sides and run out comfortable winners.

Best Bet: Kerry -5 @ 13/8
