Gold Cup and Grand National winning jockey Robbie Power has a look at the Arkle Chase at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival.
Willie Mullins’ Ferny Hollow is top of the antepost market at 6/4 from 7/4 following his Grade One win at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival. Have a watch, below!
He said: “I think it’s very hard to oppose Ferny Hollow and the 6/4 is very short at this stage for a novice chaser going to Cheltenham. Even 6/4 on the day of the race is very short but there is not a lot of strength and depth to take him on.
“Edwardstone is a good horse and a second season novice. He was a decent handicap hurdler and has improved but hasn’t achieved anything like what Ferny Hollow has. He is 5/1 second favourite but is not in the same league as Ferny Hollow.
“The way Ferny Hollow jumped at Leopardstown at Christmas was spectacular. Paul Townend let him do his thing down the back straight and he was breath-taking.
"He gave Riviere D’etel 13 pounds at Christmas and beat her and I didn’t think he could but she will get less weight off him at Cheltenham and will have a difficult task trying to reverse the form.
“The biggest danger to Ferny Hollow is his stablemate Blue Lord, if Willie Mullins decides to go this route with him. He was very impressive when he won in Naas just after Christmas.
"Third Time Lucki might be a bit overpriced at 20/1 but it’s all about Ferny Hollow for me."
Robbie’s Arkle Chase picks
6/4 – Ferny Hollow
6/1 – Blue Lord (Danger)
