Amorim

Speaking exclusively with BOYLE Sports , Premier League winner Emmanuel Petit has some scathing criticism for Ruben Amorim saying there is a "big difference" between him and the earlier days of Arsenal under Arteta and doubles down further on the Man Utd manager claiming "he is talking absolute nonsense".

The former Barcelona midfielder has given his perspective on whether Diego Simeone could be the man to finally bring success to Man United, making comparisons with him and former Man United manager Jose Mourinho

In addition, Petit gave his thoughts on Mason Mount and whether he can find his Chelsea form and finally perform consistently in Manchester arguing "he must play games".

Amorim vs Arteta

"Big Difference Between Amorim And Arteta"

There's a big difference between Ruben Amorim and Mikel Arteta. I don't know why Sir Jim Ratcliffe has said that. I think he wants to stick with what he's doing at Manchester United. I believe that Amorim is a good manager, but I think it was a huge step coming from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United, honestly.

What he did at Sporting Lisbon, as I said before, he had the support from his players from the start of the season. Now you're dealing with big players, sometimes with players who have won so much in their career that when they see a young manager coming into one of the biggest clubs in the world with a proper vision, changing the tactics every single game, changing your defense every single game and sticking, no matter what, if you win or lose your game (especially when you lose), you stick with your principles all the time.

You change and you change, you change, but you don't change your tactics. Well, it's quite difficult sometimes for the players to follow what the manager wants to bring.

I don’t agree with Ratcliffe, because Arteta was a very young manager. It was a huge step for him to deal with Arsenal. But remember, Arsenal was dealing in dark waters when he took over as a manager. I think they were at the mid-table; they were so far away from the top four and the Champions League spots. Step by step, he was ruthless in terms of management, but he had a proper vision as well.

I know that Amorim has proper vision, but we don't see it. With Arteta, we saw it very, very, very fast, and we've seen his management as well. He was ruthless with his players. Remember what happened with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, for example. So I don't see it with Amorim. I sometimes have the feeling I know what he wants to do on the pitch. But he sticks with his 3-4-2-1 formation, the success he has had with Lisbon. And no matter what happens, he won't change.

Are Amorim And Arteta Comparable?

Ruben Amorim

Amorim Is Talking Nonsense!

That's the first time I've heard a manager use that as an excuse for the failure of his players. Don't be ridiculous. Ruben Amorim is talking absolute nonsense. Your players know what you're saying is absolute nonsense, too. How can you say that when you manage for Manchester United? If you are not able to deal with critics when you manage or play for big clubs and are receiving so much money, then change clubs. Don't work with top clubs.

I read that and thought, ‘Did he seriously say that?’ I've been a player for top clubs with huge expectations. When I was on the pitch, I never tried to find excuses. You just take your own responsibility, be a man. I know I've been very upset with critics; some of what they said was unfair most of the time, but you have to deal with it.

The beauty of football is that you have your own destiny in your hands, which means you can be on the floor after one game and then be the hero of the next. You can change that situation. You have the power to change it, so just do it. Stop focusing on what people are saying in videos from players on social media. Every single player and the manager, all together, should try to change the situation, the environment.

There are so many people at Manchester United who are missing the character and personality to change it. Honestly, guys, if you can't do that, just be honest with yourself in the mirror. Say, ‘I'm not able to do that because I'm scared.’ This is it. So be honest and change.

Diego Simeone

“Ruthless” Simeone For Man United?

I don't think Manchester United players need someone to be ruthless. I think they try to give their best every single game, but for some reason, they can't consistently deliver. It's been frustrating to watch Manchester United for years. Managers have been changed repeatedly, with the same results. Jose Mourinho was quite ruthless in his management. However, he also took responsibility and protected his players.

Given the environment at Manchester United, I don't believe they need someone to come in and smash the table, dictating what players must do or threatening them with being dropped, sent to the academy, or sold. I'm not sure this is what Manchester United needs. I think they need happiness instead of someone with a strong personality trying to force a collective approach. They need to enjoy what they're doing every day, to smile, and to bring that happiness onto the pitch.

This is my feeling, and perhaps I'm wrong, but I've seen so many players at Manchester United without a smile for years. Look at Bruno Fernandes, who was probably the only one smiling for years, and now you can see his frustration and unhappiness on the pitch. When he was happy and smiling, he performed well.

You need to bring happiness into this club. I know results are important for happiness, but I mean the environment; you have to build it every single day. There is no confidence in this team, no confidence in this club. You can see that so many players and managers are scared. Look at what Amorim said about the press and former players commenting in the studio. If you don't like what you're doing, if you're not happy with what you're doing, how can you be successful? It's not possible.

Would Diego Simeone Suit Man United?

Mason Mount

Mount Must Play Games

Mason Mount has to play games. By December, it will be two and a half seasons, and he has played only 37 games in over 22 months in the Premier League. If you talk about his goal, with all due respect to Sunderland, they are a promoted team. He needs consistency, the same thing that he's been talking about with Man Utd for years. I mean, it's too soon to say that Mason Mount will be the answer for Man Utd, but in the team, we will bring fresh ideas and confidence as well.

But he needs to get more consistent. What's the amount of assists? What's the amount of goals he has scored? He needs to do much more.
