Kilmacud Crokes are strengthening as favourites in the betting for the All-Ireland Senior Club Football championship following their Dublin final victory over Na Fianna.
Last year’s beaten All-Ireland finalists had to dig deep in the semi-final clash at Parnell Park as they went into the half-time interval with a one-point deficit, but a stitched-up Shane Walsh returned from a blood injury and ended up with four from play as the Crokes narrowly sealed a tenth Dublin title by 0-11 to 0-10.
The Stillorgan side, who now face a Leinster quarter-final against Kildare champions Naas, have since been cut into 2/1 from 7/2 with BoyleSports to go one better than last year and secure a third All-Ireland Senior Championship.

Defending champions Kilcoo, who had to answer questions of their own and needed extra-time to prevail by one-point in the Down final against Warrenpoint, remain 7/1 second favourites to go all the way again.
A solitary point was also enough to determine the Donegal decider, with Naomh Conaill backed into 16/1 from 25/1 for the All-Ireland after reclaiming the honours from last year’s champions St Eunan’s.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “It certainly wasn’t plain sailing for Kilmacud Crokes in the Dublin final, but Shane Walsh’s influence continues to prove decisive and now punters believe an All-Ireland club title is firmly on the cards for the Galway man. They are being singled out as the team to beat and at 2/1 from 7/2 they have taken charge of the betting at this stage.”
Meanwhile, Ballyhale Shamrocks are hot favourites to win the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship after sealing a fifth consecutive Kilkenny title at the expense of James Stephens.
An early second-half dismissal for Paddy Mullen did little to deter the reigning Leinster champions, as TJ Reid hit six points in a 1-21 to 2-11 victory to see the Shamrocks draw level with Tullaroan in the Kilkenny roll of honour with 20 county titles.
A fourth consecutive Leinster title is now a hot odds-on shot at 1/4 in the betting with BoyleSports, while the chances of last year’s All-Ireland beaten finalists going one better have now been cut into 5/4 from 2/1.
Nine-in-a-row Waterford champions Ballygunner are second favourites at 7/2 to get their hands on the Tommy Moore Cup again, with Na Piarsaigh clipped into 8/1 third favourites from 10/1 after they teed up a Limerick final against Kilmallock with a 17-point rout of South Liberties.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “It wasn’t routine for Ballyhale Shamrocks being reduced to 14 men, but their second half performance in the Kilkenny final has blown punters away. Leinster and All-Ireland honours are on the way if the trends are on the money and with the large majority siding with Shamrocks, they are already short 5/4 shots from 2/1 to go all the way.”
