Past winners Teahupoo and Bob Olinger are again prominent in the 2026 Stayers’ Hurdle odds, while another former Cheltenham Festival ace also among the favourites is Ballyburn.
However, this three-mile contest can throw up the occasional surprise scorer, including 50/1 stunner Lisnagar Oscar and 33/1 cracker Sire Du Berlais in the last six renewals.
With that in mind, we’ve picked out a trio of possible springers currently available at double-figure prices for this season’s Thursday feature:

Stayers' Hurdle Double Digit Picks
The Yellow Clay
The Yellow Clay @ 16/1
Gordon Elliott’s charge has won half of his 12 races under rules, including a Grade One success in last season’s Lawlor’s of Naas Novice Hurdle. The son of Yeats has also performed with credit at the last two Cheltenham Festivals, finishing sixth in the Champion Bumper and then an excellent second to The New Lion in the Turners over timber.
A heavy fall at Punchestown at the end of last term and an odds-on defeat at Navan to kick off the current campaign will put some punters off, but the latter effort did highlight a need for longer trips.
With two Stayers’ Hurdle strikes in the last three years, Elliott knows what it takes to land this stiffer test of stamina, and we feel The Yellow Clay fits the right profile.
Honesty Policy
Honesty Policy @ 16/1
The same applies to this Cullentra House stablemate, who carries the colours of JP McManus, owner of past victors Baracouda, More Of That and the aforementioned outsider Sire Du Berlais.
Honesty Policy only made his racecourse debut under rules at the start of 2025 when runner-up at Naas, but soon made up for lost time with a hat-trick of triumphs, culminating in a Grade One win over Regent’s Stroll at Aintree.
The five-year-old was just worn down late on when then tried over three miles at Punchestown, but siblings Cuthbert Dibble and Molto Bene are both strong stayers proven at the distance, so it holds no fears. Elliott is convinced there is more improvement to come, and another season over hurdles won’t do him any harm before a chasing career.
Potters Charm
Potters Charm @ 40/1
The Twiston-Davies team had a rebuilding job to do after a Wetherby fall on his seasonal reappearance, but an Ascot Hurdle third seemed to get this gelding back on track.
If Potters Charm can fully get his mojo back, he would certainly appeal at big odds on his novice hurdle form, which included a trio of victories at Cheltenham and a Grade One Aintree triumph.
Those exertions may have just taken their toll when he was fifth behind The New Lion at the Festival, but this six-year-old doesn’t mind decent ground and races as though he could really enjoy finding a steady rhythm over three miles.
