Goldfinger opened up with a convincing 3-1 victory over Cam Crabtree and then produced an excellent performance to upset eighth seed Chris Dobey by the same scoreline.
The 55-year-old Norfolk thrower has posted averages of 97.89 and 99.01 , holding his nerve to come from a set behind against Dobey and notably firing in a 10-dart leg.
Golding has never made it past this point at Ally Pally but has been unfortunate to face a series of tough draws early on in past renewals, so this is a big chance for the 2023 UK Open winner to break new ground.

Each set went to a deciding leg but Schindler didn’t flinch under pressure, with the German number one completing checkouts of 20 , 118 and 76.

Voltage has proven he can be a dangerous opponent once safely negotiating the early stages at Ally Pally and his record in third-round matches is an impressive one.
The 35-year-old has won five of his six previous games at this point of the tournament, famously going on to lift the trophy at his first attempt back in 2018 .
Cross admitted he wasn’t at his best during a 3-1 triumph over Ian White but declared: “I’ve made a living from hitting clutch checkouts, I can be one of the best finishers in the game under pressure.”
