Orianthi
Orianthi- EVS
The red-hot favourite for the 2026 Champion Bitch Stakes is Orianthi, who is trained by Barry Lynch for The-Rule-Of-Four-Syndicate from Manchester.
Orianthi is another who’s no stranger to the Powerstown roar when she powered to victory in the Kitty Butler Stakes, where she was superb from the opening round and proved much too good for a tired Snickerdoodle in the final course.
This season, Orianthi qualified for the Grace Bruton Champion Bitch Stake by winning The All Age Cup in Thurles, defeating Sean Ogs Wonder and was withdrawn in North Kilkenny, so was declared runner-up to Banofee Pie. Those performances contributed to 14 points and €3,875, which put her second in the Champion Stakes table.
The Brindle March 2023 daughter of Newinn Wonder and Baldes of Honour will have to navigate a course with Coshair Ryco to reach the semi-final.
Moyle Magic
Moyle Magic - 3/1
The joint second favourite for the 2026 Champion Bitch Stakes is Moyle Magic , who is owned by the Galloping Lads Syndicate and is trained by Liam Dowling.
Last season, Moyle Magic qualified for Clonmel, winning the Oaks Trial Stake at Ballyduff, winning her opening round of the stake before being eliminated. However, it was at the Irish Cup where she really came alive, winning in 11.82, 11.79, 11.71, saw off Banoffee Pie in 11.64 and reached the final after beating Stickmein in 11.74, though she came undone in the final, losing to Bobby Browne.
She’s taken that Irish Cup form into the new season, booking her ticket for this competition with an impressive run, which includes victory in the All Age Bitch Stake in Kilflynn, defeating Rushview Pebbles. S he was runner-up in both the All Stages Stakes at Abbeydorney and Ballyduff to Burning Love and Eulogy respectedly . She then was victorious in the All Age Stake in Newcastlewest, defeating Trigger Trixie.
Heading into the weekend, this Fawn April 2023 daughter of BoyleSports Magic and Ballymac Floral topped the qualification table with 15 points and €4,145 won. Moyle Magic meets Nottonight in their first round buckle and looks a serious value play to land outright glory.
Figjam
Figjam - 3/1
The other joint second favourite for the 2026 Champion Bitch Stakes is Figjam, who is trained by Karol Ramsbottom for Ramsbottom Keegan John Syndicate.
Figjam had an impressive reputation built off the 25/26 Coursing season, where she won the Oaks Trial Stake in Cashel as well as the All Age Bitch Stake in Johnstown & Urlingford, though she failed to realise her full potential in Clonmel due to sickness.
She came back this time around with a vengeance! In Week 3 at Cashel , Figjam took the All Age Bitch Stake as winner, beating runner-up Liberty Honey in the final. She followed up in Week 7 at Mitchelstown , claiming the All Age Bitch Stake again as winner, overcoming runner-up Seanies Digger. She completed the hat-trick by retaining the Johnny Doyle Memorial Cup at Johnstown & Urlingford.
The Brindle and White January 2023 daughter of Boylesportsmagic and Tullig Belle has been prolific this season, with her record giving her 13.5 points and €4,500, which put her third in the Champion Stakes qualifying table.
Figjam faces the challenge of Aran View for a place in the semi-final of this event.
