2025 World Matchplay Darts Betting Favourites
Luke Littler
Odds
Favourite to win the 2025 World Matchplay Darts is Luke Littler with odds of 10/11, suggesting a 52.4% chance of success
World Matchplay Pedigree
Littler made his debut at the event last year, where he was beaten by Michael van Gerwen in the first round 10-6.
This year he opened his 2025 World Matchplay tournament with a convincing 10-2 victory over Ryan Searle blowing his opponent away with an average of 108.92 to a more than respectable 98.63. He won in out in a thriller to come from 3-7 behind to win 13-11 against Jermaine Wattimena with averages of 99.28 and 96.39 respectively.
For his quarter-final he's been drawn against Andrew Gilding where the winner is set to face Josh Rock or Gerwyn Price.
Major Tournament Form
Luke “The Nuke” opened up his 2025 following a dominant run to his second successive World Championship final. He won the final dominantly, beating Michael van Gerwen 7-4 to claim his first-ever World Championship at just 17 years of age, becoming the youngest winner of the competition.
Elsewhere in major events, he won the UK Open, reached the Quarter-Final of the World Masters, getting knocked out 2-4 against Johnny Clayton, in the Premier League he topped the initial league phase before losing the final to Luke Humphries, but disappointed in the recent World Cup, getting knocked out in the second round.
Verdict
Luke Littler is a worthy favourite given the star power he’s brought to the game since debuting on the Pro Tour and given the names who've been knocked out of the tournament and his relatively easy on paper quarter final odds of 10/11 to win the 2025 World Matchplay of Darts is good value.

Gerwyn Price
Odds
Welshman Gerwyn Price is priced at 4/1 to win the 2025 World Matchplay Darts, which implies an 20% chance of success.
World Matchplay Pedigree
Price has never enjoyed the World Matchplay event, with his only performances of note coming when he reached the quarterfinals in 2015 and 2021, with his best being as a beaten runner-up in 2022.
Price opened the event this year with a 10-7 victory over Daryl Gurney following his average of 100.21 to the Northern Irishmans 98.46. He then took his game in the following round to the next level blowing his opponent Chris Dobey who averaged 96.50 away with his average of 108.73 to win 3-11.
He faces a tough quarter-final draw against Josh Rock where he will play the winner of Luke Littler and Andrew Gilding.
Major Tournament Form
Price opened up the 2025 season with a quarter-final result in the World Championship; other highlights came in the Premier League, where he was a semi-finalist and in the World Cup, where he finished as a runner-up.
His other results were a second-round finish at the World Masters and a fourth-round result at the UK Open.
Verdict
Price has never been too fond of this event, and though he has the game to win it, I don’t think his major tournament form leans into a win at 4/1.

Josh Rock
Odds
Next in the betting to win the 2025 World Matchplay Darts is Josh Rock at odds of 15/2, implying a 11.8% chance of success.
World Matchplay Pedigree
‘Before this year Josh had appeared in this event twice, but was knocked out in the first round on both occasions in 2023 and 2024.
Rock opened his account this year in convincing fashion to beat Ross Smith 5-10 blowing his opponents 94.88 average away with one of 104.32. He then staged a comeback to beat Michael van Gerwen 11-13 from 6-4 down though both players averaged below their levels with 97.31 to 95.15.
He plays Price for the chance at a semi-final date with Luke Littler or Andrew Gilding.
Major Tournament Form
The Northern Irishman opened the 2025 season with a third-round result in the World Championship and a second-round exit in the World Masters.
More recently, though, his talent has started to shine, reaching the semi-finals of the UK Open and winning the World Cup alongside Daryl Gurney.
Verdict
Rock is in great form and can't be ruled out at odds of 15/2.

Gian van Veen
Odds
Gian van Veen can also currently be gotten at 15/2 to win this event.
World Matchplay Pedigree
He made his first appearance at this event last year where he was knocked out in the first round losing out in a 13-12 thriller against Rob Cross.
On the opening night of the he claimed arguably the scalp of the tournament knocking out Luke Humphries 8-10 after his average of 98.45 was enough to overcome Luke's 95.69. In the second round of the event he had an 11-5 win over fellow Dutch compatriot and former teammate Danny Noppert 11-5 though both averages of 94.94 and 94.59 were relatively poor.
Gian will play James Wade for a semi-final date with either Stephen Bunting or Johnny Clayton
Major Tournament Form
Though the year started poorly with a second round finish at the World Championship and a preliminary appearance at the World Masters.
Recently his form has been stronger, reaching the quarter-final of the UK Open and the semi-final of the World Cup
Verdict
Though a talented player, his averages this tournament doesn't scream event winner for me so I'd avoid at odds of 15/2 ,.

Johnny Clayton
Odds
Another name at the top of the market is Johnny Clayton with odds of 10/1 to win this event.
World Matchplay Pedigree
“The Ferret” generally plays poorly at the World Matchplay event with almost exclusively early exits at the event aside from in 2023 when he was runner-up to Nathan Aspinall losing 18-6 in the final.
In the first round he beat Martin Schindler 10-7 despite being outscored 99.50 to 103.45. In the second round his average fell considerably to 93.41 but it was still better then his opponent De Decker's 92.62 to win 11-8.
Clayton plays Bunting for a semi-final with either van Veen or Wade.
Major Tournament Form
His form in 2025 has gone under the radar after opening it with a fourth round exit at the World Championship he hasn't looked back. He appeared at the World Masters Final, UK Open semi-final and in the World Cup Final.
Verdict
His major event form his strong even if his averages in this event have been less than impressive with odds of 10/1 he has strong each way claims.
