World Darts Championship Final Preview
Luke Littler – The Rising Star
At just 17, Luke Littler has taken the darts world by storm. His heavy scoring, fearless style and composure under pressure have earned him a place in the World Championship Final for a second successive year. Last year he fell short against an irresistible Luke Humphries but this time around he looks primed to lift what a lot of people expect will be his first of many world titles.
Pre-Tournament Form
Luke Littler started 2024 with plenty of promise reaching the Final of the PDC World Championship and the Quarter-Final of the UK Open.
That was followed by first-round exits in the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix and European Championship.
However, there has been a great deal of success too, winning the Grand Slam of Darts, Premier League and most recently The World Series of Darts last September. He also reached the final of the Players Championship Finals.
Tournament Form
‘The Nuke’s’ run to this year’s final includes wins over Stephen Bunting (6-1) and Nathan Aspinall (5-2). If he continues playing the way he has in this tournament then he will be a very hard man to beat this Friday evening.

Michael van Gerwen – The Master Returns
A three-time World Champion, Michael van Gerwen is no stranger to the pressure of the biggest stage. The Dutchman’s dominant displays, including his 6-1 win in yesterday’s semi-final against Chris Dobey, have him heading into this final full of confidence that he can return to the summit of the darting mountain. Van Gerwen’s blend of power scoring and clinical finishing remains as formidable as ever.
Pre-Tournament Form
Van Gerwen has had a disappointing 2024 season not winning a single major tournament with his best finish being when he reached the final of the World Matchplay and the Cazoo Masters.
He was a Semi-Finalist in both the Premier League of Darts and World Series of Darts too and a Quarter-Finalist in the World Championships at the beginning of the year. Other than those results he’s had early exits in the other six major competitions.

World Darts Championship Final Betting Tips
Van Gerwen To Hit The Most 180s @ 11/2
Luke Littler is the prohibitive 1/8 favourite in this market as the tournament leader in 180s (64). While Littler is a deserving favourite to have the most 180s in this final, I think odds of 11/2 represent great value on van Gerwen.
The Dutchman has been finding the T20 with regularity and is T2nd for most 180s in the tournament (43). In the last 5 matches between these two van Gerwen has thrown more 180s than Littler in 2 of them.
The odds of 11/2 on MVG hitting the most 180s are too big here for the actual likelihood of it happening so I think this is one of the best value bets of the evening.
Luke Littler 3 Darts Match Average – Under 102.5 @ Evens
The pressure of a first World Championship Final is likely to see Littler’s average drop slightly. His tournament average of 102.13 is already below this line, and van Gerwen’s no-nonsense approach will further test the young star’s mettle. Unlike previous opponents (I’m looking at you Stephen Bunting and Nathan Aspinall) who made Littler comfortable by sharing little jokes and constant fist bumping, 'Mighty Mike'’s intensity may cause the 17-year-old to falter slightly, making this line a solid value bet.
Match To Go Over 11.5 Sets @ 5/4
We can expect a tightly contested affair between two evenly matched players in this year’s decider. Van Gerwen’s championship experience and Littler’s raw talent should ensure this match goes deep into the evening. With little to separate them, a 12th or even 13th set decider feels likely, offering value at 5/4.
Luke Littler v Michael van Gerwen Prediction
Michael van Gerwen To Win 7-5
We could be in for fireworks from Ally Pally this Friday night as this final has all the makings of an absolute classic.
While Littler’s rise has been meteoric, the experience and nous of Michael van Gerwen in the cauldron of a World Championship Final could be enough to get him over the line with all the pressure on the 17-year-old.
