2025 PDC World Championship Darts Betting Favourites

Luke Littler

Odds

Favourite for the PDC World Championship is Luke Littler at odds of 15/8 Those odds suggest he has a 34.8% chance of winning his first World Championship.

PDC World Championship Pedigree

In his first appearance at the PDC World Darts Championship Littler shocked the world on his way to the final at the age of just 16. In the end, Luke Humphries proved too good in the final with Litter losing 4-7 despite an average of 101.13 in the final his opponent's average was even larger with a 103.67.

However, Littler is very much in the infancy of his career and you get the feeling there will be multiple World Titles in his future and not just the one.

In the first round, he is set to play the winner of the qualifier of Meikle vs Sherrock.

Major Tournament Form

Luke Littler started 2024 with plenty of promise reaching the Final of the PDC World Championship and the Quarter-Final of the UK Open.

That was followed by first-round exits in the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix and European Championship.

However, there’s been a great deal of success too winning the Grand Slam of Darts, Premier League and most recently The World Series of Darts last September. He also reached the final of the Players Championship Finals.

Verdict

Luke Littler is a player quite unlike anything we’ve seen before and is a worthy favourite for the PDC World Championship.

Luke Humphries

Odds

The second favourite to win the 2025 PDC World Championship Darts is Luke Humphries at odds of 11/4 according to the latest darts betting odds at BoyleSports. Those odds imply that he has a 26.7% chance of retaining his title.

Luke Humphries Boyle Sports World Grand Prix

PDC World Championship Pedigree

‘Cool Hand Luke’ will go into the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship as the defending champion after winning his first world title in 2024. To secure the 2024 World Darts Championship Humphries beat teenage sensation Luke Littler 7-4 in the final.

That was Humphries 7th appearance at the PDC World Darts Championship. His previous best finish had been at the quarter-finals which he achieved in 2019, 2020 and 2022.

In the first round, he will play the winner of the qualifying match Tricole vs Comito.

Major Tournament Form

Luke Humphries is the form player in the darting world right now having won the PDC World Championship, World Matchplay and World Cup of Darts and Players Championship Finals in  2024.

He also reached the final of the UK Open, World Grand Prix and the Premier League as well as the Quarter-Finals of the European Championship and World Series of Darts.

His only poor performances came in the Masters where he was eliminated in the second round and the recent Grand Slam of Darts where he failed to get out of his group.

Verdict

People are taking far too much notice of his Grand Slam of Darts early exit and with odds of 11/4 he is a value play in the betting market.

Gary Anderson

Odds

The joint third favourite to win the 2025 PDC World Championship Darts is Gary Anderson at odds of 9/1. Those odds that he has a 10% chance of winning this event.

Darts gary anderson

PDC World Championship Pedigree

Gary Anderson has a strong World Championship record with victories in the event coming in 2015 when he defeated Phil Taylor 7-6 and in 2016 when he overcame Adrian Lewis by a 5-7 scoreline.

He was also a beaten finalist in this event in 2011, 2017 and 2021 and a Semi-Finalist in both 2019 and 2022. However, in the last two iterations of the competition, it's been early round exits coming in the third round in 2023 and the fourth round in 2024.

For the first round, he will face the winner of the qualifying game De Graaf vs Sweeting.

Major Tournament Form

Gary hasn’t been in the best of form in 2024 with his only results of significance being a Semi-Finals result at the World Cup of Darts and recent Grand Slam of Darts as well as a Quarter-Final appearance at the European Championship.

Verdict

The Grand Slam of Darts marked somewhat of a return of the old in-form Gary Anderson, but I still think a World Championship victory could be beyond him at this point in his career.

Michael van Gerwen

Odds

The other joint third favourite for the 2025 PDC World Championship Darts is Michael van Gerwen with odds of 9/1 to win his fourth World Championship title.

Michael van gerwen darts

PDC World Championship Pedigree

Michael van Gerwen has won the PDC World Darts Championship 3 times in his career so far coming in 2014, 2017 and 2019 along with 3 runner-up finishes coming in 2013, 2020 and 2023.

Those 3 wins make him the second most successful player in the history of the event behind only Phil Taylor. MVG’s 6 final appearances are also the second most in the history of the event behind Taylor.

In other words, it’s fair to say that van Gerwen has a World Championship pedigree in bundles. With that said, he has been without a win at the event since 2019 which will feel like a drought for a player of his quality and will be looking to improve on his Quarter-Final result from last season.

For his opening game, he will play the winner of Hurrell vs Long.

Major Tournament Form

Van Gerwen has had a disappointing 2024 season not winning a single major tournament with his best finish being when he reached the final of the World Matchplay and the Cazoo Masters.

He was a Semi-Finalist in both the Premier League of Darts and World Series of Darts too and a Quarter-Finalist in the World Championships at the beginning of the year. Other than those results he’s had to for early exits in the other six major competitions.

Verdict

MVG has yet to record a major trophy this season which he’s done every year since 2012, but he is running out of time this year could he turn on the style at the World Championships? Don’t rule it out.

Michael Smith

Odds

Michael Smith is currently priced at 25/1 to win the 2025 PDC World Championship giving him a 3.8% chance of winning his second World Title.

Michael Smith Darts

PDC World Championship Pedigree

Michael Smith is a world champion thanks to his win at this event in 2023. He has two further final appearances at Alexandra Palace which came in 2019 and 2022 and a Quarter-Final result in 2016,

This year in the opening round he will play the winner of Doets vs Van Leuven.

Major Tournament Form

Smith had his sole major tournament success in 2024 when he won the World Cup of Darts, he was a finalist for the World Series of Darts and made the semi-finals in both the Premier League and World Matchplay.

Verdict

Smith has the game to go close here, but I’m unsure if he’s coming into this tournament with enough consistency hence the 25/1 odds.
