Constitution Hill

Constitution Hill

Odds

The favourite for the Fighting Fifth Hurdle is Constitution Hill for trainer Nicky Henderson and owner Michael Buckley who is currently priced at odds of 13/8 to be guided past the winning line by jockey Nico de Boinville.

Form

The now 8-year-old starting his career in untouchable fashion going unbeaten winning ten out of ten since after leaving the PTP scene in April 2021.

Despite earlier dominance on the track more recently the horse has struggled, falling in the Champion Hurdle last March, then another tumble early at the third in Aintree and limping to a fifth finish from a field of six horses last May.

Verdict

If the real confident Constitution Hill turns up he's in a class of his own and following some time off, I think he is still a worthy favourite.

The New Lion

The New Lion

Odds

Joint second favourite with odds of 15/8 is The New Lion who is trained by Dan Skelton for owner JP McManus.

Form

The 4-year-old gelding has an unbeaten career record of five wins from five races and most recently ran at Cheltenham last March winning the Turners Novices' Hurdle.

The horse is expected to be ridden by jockey Harry Skelton who has been onboard this horse since the beginning of it's racing career.

Verdict

The New Lion has had a brilliant start to his racing career, a future star of the track and has every chance of success at odds of 13/8.

Anzadam

Anzadam

Odds

The other joint second favourite to land the Fighting Fifth Hurdle is Anzadam for trainer WP Mullins and owner Mrs J. Donnelly.

Form

The 5-year-old gelding is another horse heading into this weekend unbeaten following a record of four wins from his opening four races.

The horse most recently ran in Naas last January over the 2 mile trip where it finished eleven lengths ahead of runner-up Beacon Edge.

Verdict

Another horse with smart form and it would take a foolish person to rule out a WP Mullins trained horse no matter what the race!

Golden Ace

Golden Ace

Odds

The fourth favourite is Golden Ace, who is priced at 25/1 for the team of trainer Jeremy Scott, owner IF Gosden and jockey Lorcan Williams.

Form

The 7-year-old mare is a consistent sort with currently a career record of seven successes, three runner-up finishes and one third place result meaning she has only been outside the top-three twice from thirteen outings.

The horse most recently ran at Wetherby earlier this month when it finished a disappointing twenty-eight lengths back in a head-to-head battle with Kateira.

Verdict

The run earlier this month was a rare poor showing but a lot more will be needed to figure in this race.

Nemean Lion

Nemean Lion

Odds

Nemean Lion is priced at 66/1 for the Fighting Fifth Hurdle for trainer Kerry Lee, owner Will Roseff and jockey JP O'Farrell

Form

The 8-year-old gelding has a career record of eight wins, six runner-up finishes and two 3 third-place runs from twenty-four outings.

The horse most recently ran at Cheltenham last month, where the horse pulled-up in the Stayers Hurdle before the last fence.

Verdict

We haven't seen the horse recently and it'll take a monumental training performance for the horse to even place in this race.
