2024 Ryanair Chase Betting Favourites

Allaho

The favourite to win the 2024 Cheltenham Ryanair Chase is Allaho at odds of 3/1. Those odds imply that Allaho has a 25% chance of winning the 2024 Cheltenham Ryanair Chase.

The nine-year-old is trained by Nicky Henderson and a son of No Risk At All and Idaho Falls.

Allaho has a prolific record of 8 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third-place from 13 runs over fences.

This gelding’s most recent showing was at Clonmel in November when he won over the two-mile and four-and-a-half furlong distance against a three-horse field. He finished ahead of runner-up Janidil by nine lengths. This was the horse's return to the track following a 561-day break and his fifth successive victory.

Allaho’s imperious record over fences and status as the 2022 Cheltenham Ryanair Chase champion makes him the horse to beat ahead of the 2024 edition of this famous race.

Stage Star

The second favourite for 2024 Cheltenham Ryanair Chase success is Stage Star at odds of 7/2. Those odds suggest that Stage Star has a 22.2% chance of winning the race.

The Paul Nicholls-trained seven-year-old is the son of Fame And Glory and Sparky May.

Stage Star’s career record to date is 5 victories and 1 runner-up finish from 7 runs over fences.

The horse's most recent outing on track was at Cheltenham in the November Meeting where he won over the two-mile four-furlong distance. On that occasion he beat thirteen other horses including closest challenger Notlongtillmay by four lengths.

This was a return to form for the horse following a last-place finish at Aintree back in April where he came fifteen lengths behind winner Banbridge despite going off as 6/4 favourite.

Given his track record of success at Cheltenham, three wins from three outings including winning the 2023 Turners Novices’ Chase, Stage Star promises to be a serious contender to win the Ryanair Chase this March.

Jonbon

The third favourite for the 2024 Cheltenham Ryanair Chase is Jonbon at 6/1. Those odds imply that Jonbon has a 14.3% chance of being crowned the next Ryanair Chase winner.

The seven-year-old trained by Nicky Henderson is a son of Walk in The Park and Star Face.

Jonbon’s career record to date is a sensational eleven victories and two runner-up finishes from thirteen races. Since making the switch from hurdles to fences in 2022 he has won 6 of 7 races with his only loss coming in Cheltenham’s 2023 Arkle Chase where he came in 2nd to El Fabiolo.

Jonbon’s most recent outing on track was at Cheltenham’s November Meeting when he won as part of a four-horse field. The gelding made light work of his competition as he came nine and a half lengths ahead of runner-up Edwardstone. That was the horse's third successive victory on track.

The French horse is still looking for a win at the Cheltenham Festival although he has shown form around the track with two second-place finishes at the festival along with his win in the most recent Cheltenham November Meeting.

6/1 looks like solid value on Jonbon winning this race given his prolific record and solid form around Cheltenham.

Banbridge

Next up in the betting to win the Ryanair Chase at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival is Banbridge at 10/1 odds. Those odds suggest that Banbridge has a 9.1% chance of 2024 Ryanair Chase glory.

The seven-year-old gelding trained by Joseph Patrick O’Brien is a son of Old Carton Lass and Presenting.

Banbridge has been a consistent sort over fences with 3 wins, 1 second and 1 third from 5 runs.

Overall, his career record is a consistent 8 victories, 1 runner-up finish and 1 third place from 14 outings

Banbridge's most recent outing on track was at Aintree back in April where he topped the five-horse-field, one and a half lengths ahead of Saint Roi over the two-mile four-furlong trip. That was the horse's first success since November 2022 at Cheltenham.

With 3 wins from 5 outings over fences and 2 wins from 2 outings at Cheltenham (one over hurdles and one over fences), Banbridge figures to be a major factor in the 2024 Cheltenham Ryanair Chase.

Shishkin

Further out in the betting, we have Shishkin who is a 14/1 shot. Those odds imply that Shishkin has a 6.7% chance of winning this race.

The nine-year-old gelding trained by Nicky Henderson is a son of Sholokov and Labarynth.

Shishkin’s career record is a brilliant 13 victories, 1 runner-up finish and 1 third place from 17 outings. Over fences, Shishkin has been no slouch either with 9 wins, 1 second and 1 third from 13 runs.

This gelding’s most recent showing was at Aintree back in April when he won over the three-mile and one-furlong distance. He won a five-horse field, coming ahead of the fast Ahoy Senor by 1.5 lengths. That was his third outing this year with the only blot being a second-place finish in the 2023 Ryanair Chase where he came 2.75 lengths back of Envoi Allen.

Shishkin was also supposed to run at Ascot in November and was an 8/13 SP favourite but refused to race.

Odds of 14/1 could represent value on Shishkin as he bids to go one better than his second-place finish in the 2023 Ryanair Chase.
