The 2023 Irish Open Betting Favourites

Rory McIlroy

It’s no surprise that World Number 2 Rory Mcllroy will come into the 2023 Irish Open as the betting favourite. The Northern Irishman has been installed at short odds of 10/3 to win his second ever Irish Open.

This year's renewal of the Irish Open is being hosted at the K Club which is the course that he landed his sole Irish Open success back in 2016. Many are speculating that lightning could strike twice at the weekend.

From the Northern Irishman's 18 starts during the 22/23 golfing season, he has two victories, two runners-up placings and 13 Top-10 finishes. Rory is coming into this tournament in solid form coming in the Top-5  four times in his last four tournaments including a victory at the Genesis Scottish Open.

His last outing was a 4th place finish a couple weeks ago at East Lake in the Tour Championship.

Tyrrell Hatton

The second favourite to win the 2023 Irish Open is Tyrrell Hatton who is 10/1 in the betting odds. The World Number 13 status as second favourite for this year's event comes despite being cut at this event last year.

The last time the Irish Open was held at the K Club (2016) Hatton finished T5 so he should have good memories coming into this week.

His 22/23 form coming into this event has been solid yet unspectacular. Fom 21 events he has zero victories, 1 runners-up finish, 7 Top-10 placings, 13 Top-25 results and he has only missed the cut on one occasion. Last time out at the Tour Championship he finished T16.

If Hatton wins this year's Irish Open it would be his first victory since 2021 and it would also bode well for Europe to have him in good form going into this month's Ryder Cup.

Min Woo Lee

Australia's Min Woo Lee comes in at odds of 18/1 to win the 2023 Irish Open.

World Number 44 Min Woo Lee is playing at an event for the first time since The Open Championship. This has people speculating that he could fancy himself for victory in Ireland.

Lee has two professional tour victories since turning pro in 2019 with his most recent win coming at the 2021 Scottish Open.

From 13 events in the 22/23 season the Aussie has 3 Top-10 finishes, 4 Top-25 placings and has made the cut 9/13 times. A player to watch at the event, but very much an unknown quantity following his break.

Adam Scott – 18/1

Another 18/1 shot for the 2023 Irish Open is 2013 Masters Champion Adam Scott. The World Number 40 is one of the best players of the modern era with a record of 31 professional tour wins since turning pro in 2000.

During the 22/23 season, he has been unspectacular for his standards making 15/17 cuts, appearing in the Top 10 just 4 times, and the Top 25 6 times.

Scott has described himself as ‘dialled in’ ahead of the 2023 Irish Open where he will be returning to the event for the first time in 21 years. He may be getting on at 43 years of age but if he can find anything like the game he is capable of you can expect him to be a major contender at the K Club.

Shane Lowry

Next up in the betting for the 2023 Irish Open is Irishman Shane Lowry who is 20/1 to win a second Irish Open. The Co. Offaly native famously won the event back in 2009 as an amateur where he announced himself to the golfing world.

Lowry subsequently turned professional and has since been a consistent feature on the PGA and European Tour. At last year's event he finished a respectable T9. Lowry always seems to find form in Ireland.

The 2019 Open Champion's form in 22/23 hasn’t been great. While he has made the cut in 15/18 events, he has only 1 Top-10 finish and 9 Top-25 placings. Lowry was just named this week as a captain's pick for the Ryder Cup and will be hoping to build momentum heading into the big event in Rome.

Others Contenders

Elsewhere Adrian Meronk is currently priced at 22/1 to retain his 2022 Irish Open title, American Billy Horschel is currently 28/1. If you fancy a home winner then the in form Padraig Harrington is 50/1 to win the competition for the first time since 2007.

Best Bet: Adam Scott @ 18/1
