Gerwyn Price vs Martin Schindler

Time: 19:15

Odds

Gerwyn Price - 1/4

Martin Schindler - 3/1

Preview

The IceMan won this event back in 2020 and entered this tournament with a form guide of a Quarter-Final World Championship finish, a runners-up finish in the Premier League of Darts and a PDC World Cup of Darts victory all in 2023.

In the first round he underwhelmed, averaging 88.23 and taking 3.3 darts to start each leg, however he still comfortably beat Danny Noppert 2-0.

The Second he defeated Krzysztof Ratajski in straight sets, this time only averaging 85.13. However, he got the job done and remains in the hat, he didn’t mince his words about his opponent after though!

Schindler (27) looks to be one of the brightest prospects on tour, having a brilliant 2023 reaching the third round of the World Championship narrowly beaten by Michael Smith, he reached the Quarter-Final of the UK Open and Semi-Final of the World Cup of Darts.

Schindler fell over the line against Barneveld averaging 83.22 and averaging 2.6 darts to open each leg and win 2-1.

His Second-Round match against Bunting was always going to be tight but despite his average of 88.21 being four points smaller than his opponent he grafted out a 2-3 victory.

Best Bet: Gerwyn Price 3-1@ 21/10

Michael Smith vs Andrew Gliding

Time: 20:15

Odds

Michael Smith - 2/7

Andrew Gilding - 11/4

Preview

The 2023 World Championship winner also reached the Semi-Final of the Premier League, The Masters and the Quarter Final of the World Cup of Darts this season. He has never been beyond the second round of this event though.

From opening night Smith averaged a swift 2 darts to open each leg of darts, which combined with a strong 96.14 average was enough to beat Callan Rydz 2-0.

Smith preceded to whitewash Northern Irishman Brendan Dolan 3-0 in his next match to reach the Quarter-Final for the first time.

Gliding (52) despite playing darts since 1990 (which is over thirty years) is arguably playing the best darts of his career winning the 2023 UK Open shocking Michael Van Gerwen 11-10 in the final.

Gliding stuttered over the line against an under-performing Rob Cross in the final game of the opening night with an average of 74.93, he also took the most number of darts of all winners on the night to start with 3.9 darts before hitting a double.

Gliding grinded out another win in the Second beating Gary Anderson 3-2 despite his average of 80.2 being close to three points lower than Anderson.

Best Bet: Full House Michael Smith (Win Match, Highest Checkout, Most 180s) @ 5/4

Peter Wright vs Luke Humphries

Time: 21:15

Odds

Peter Wright - 7/4

Luke Humphries - 4/9

Preview

World Number (3) Wright's (53) best finish at this event was when he finished runner-up back in 2018 when he lost to Michael Van Gerwen at Citywest Hotel Dublin. He has saved his best performances for the Non-Ranked events this year making the Semi-Final of The Masters, the Final of the World Cup of Darts and the Semi-Final of the World Series of Darts.

Wright whitewashed Clemens in the First-Round 2-0 and averaged a decent 89.49 before overcoming a stiff opponent in his next match this time winning out 3-1 against Ryan Searle with an average of 87.30.

What had he to say about his next opponent though?

World Number (6) Humphries (28) is the highest-ranked current player on the PDC Circuit not to win one of the Darting majors, thus combined with his consistent performances statistically this season. He has already reached The Matchplay and World Series Semi-Finals in 2023.

In his first match of the tournament, he whitewashed Daryl Gurney 2-0 with an average of 86.64, in his next match despite a reduced average of 84.35 he still didn’t drop a set winning 3-0 against Luke Woodhouse.

It seems only a matter of time before that crown comes and at 10/3 could be a great bet to win the tournament outright

Best Bet: Luke Humphries Most 180s on the Night @ 10/3

Chris Dobey vs Joe Cullen

Time: 22:15

Odds

Chris Dobey - 4/5

Joe Cullen - Evens

Preview

Dobey (33) is another rising star in the sport of darts, having the season of his career this year reaching the Quarter-Final of the World Championship. Quarter-Final of the World Matchplay and winning The Masters.

In his first round, he averaged a solid 91.13 to beat Dimitri Van den Bergh 0-2 and in the next round, he put in a brilliant performance of 91.87 average (doesn’t tell the full story) to shock Michael Van Gerwen to win 2-3.

Cullen is another serious threat though, as a former World Grand Prix Quarter-Finalist in 2020 along with being a 2022 Masters winner. His best result this season was a Semi-Final at the World Matchplay.

Cullen whitewashed De Decker 2-0 in the opening round with an average of 92.07 and he built on that against Ross Smith to win 1-3 with an average of 94.64.

This is the toughest match to call of the night.

Best Bet: Chris Dobey 3-2 @ 19/5
