Altior secured his 16th win from 16 over obstacles after landing the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton on Thursday with relative ease.
Nicky Henderson’s eight-year-old has further strengthened as the market leader for the Queen Mother Champion Steeple Chase at Cheltenham next year as his odds shortened into 2/5 from 8/13 for the two-miler.
Elsewhere, Colin Tizzard’s Elegant Escape won the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow, giving the trainer his second win in three years, having won with Native River in 2016. We have cut the six-year-old’s 2019 Grand National odds into 20/1 from 33/1 as a result.
There was also a significant mover in the antepost market for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle after Aramon’s odds were slashed from 33/1 to 14/1 following his impressive 10-length Novice Hurdle victory at Leopardstown. It was a fourth win and a third successive in the race for trainer Willie Mullins who had the one-two with Sancta Simona finishing second.
